Welcome to the School of English, Media and Performing Arts (EMPA) which comprises the disciplines of English (including Literature and Creative and Professional Writing), Media, Film Studies, Theatre and Performance Studies, Dance Education, Music and Music Education.  This diverse group of disciplines and interdisciplinary programs enables students to make exciting links across these areas of specialisation, and to engage in both theoretical and practical/creative approaches to academic study. This includes the opportunity to undertake practice-based research at postgraduate level. Many of the School's academic staff have internationally recognised profiles in research and/or teaching. The School offers high-quality production resources and facilities and includes the Creative Practice and Research Unit that supports live performance and hosts resident and visiting artists and companies.
