Welcome
Welcome to the School of English, Media and Performing Arts (EMPA) which comprises the disciplines of English (including Creative Writing), Film Studies, Media and Communications, Theatre and Performance Studies, Dance Education, and Music and Music Education. Our rich and diverse group of interdisciplinary programs enables students to make exciting links across areas of specialisation, and to engage in theoretical, practical, and creative approaches to academic study. This includes the opportunity to undertake creative and practice-based research at Masters and Doctoral level.
Many of the School's academic staff have internationally recognised profiles and are leaders in their field. We offer high-quality production and performance resources and facilities including the Creative Practice and Research Unit. Every semester, EMPA supports a wide range of activities including live theatre and dance performances, concerts, research seminars, media events and installations, film screenings, and frequent visits from illustrious scholars and artists.
We look forward to welcoming you to the School of English, Media and Performing Arts in the Sir Robert Webster Building at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.
