Production and Venues

The School of English, Media and Performing Arts has many different spaces, technical resources and facilities that assist the teaching and research done in the School. Technical support and information is provided through the Schools Creative Practice and Research Unit and through the Webster based Technical Resources Center. EMPA Students who wish to have access to music-related resources such as rehearsal rooms should contact the School office on 9385 4856, or email empa@unsw.edu.au.

Creative Practice & Research Unit

Io Myers Studio

Located in the Io Myers Studio, the Schools main performance venue, the production staff, provide technical resources and information in all areas of production in the performing arts, multi-media installations and video production design. Besides venues and rehearsal spaces there are set, costume and props available for use in student production work. The Creative Practice and Research Unit is also responsible for commercial hires of venues and rehearsal spaces. For enquiries about hire please contact Su Goldfish.

Technical Resources Centre

Webster Building

For information on computer labs, production and audio equipment and facilities in the Webster building please go to the TRC website for information. In addition to the Creative Practice and Research Unit students and staff can access technical support and advice from the TRC on using :

  • computer labs
  • digital video and audio production and post-production facilities
  • audio-visual facilities in teaching spaces

The TRC also manages the equipment loans system, providing staff and students with access to video and audio production equipment.
